Personal live translation
Point your phone at any talk, meeting, or conversation. Kalamo listens and shows a live translation on your screen, in your language. No app, no sign-up.
What it is
Personal translation is the walk-up Kalamo product at kalamo.ai/live. It turns your phone into a personal interpreter: the microphone listens to whoever is speaking, and a clean full-screen caption shows the live translation in the language you choose. It is built for sitting through a long talk, not just asking directions, so the captions are paced and full-screen, and you keep a transcript afterward.
It is ideal for conferences, lectures, business meetings, travel, places of worship, and doctor visits.
Start translating
- Open kalamo.ai/live on your phone (or tap Start on the homepage).
- Choose the spoken language and the language you want to read.
- Press Start and allow the microphone when your phone asks.
- Hold the phone up or set it down. The translation appears full-screen as the person speaks.
Free trial
Every device gets a short free trial, no card and no sign-up. Just press Start. When the trial runs out, Kalamo shows the pass options so you can keep going without losing your place.
Passes
A pass is timed access that starts the moment you pay and runs continuously, used or not. There are three windows:
| Pass | Good for |
|---|---|
| 3-hour pass | One talk or meeting |
| Day pass | A full day of sessions |
| Week pass | A whole conference or trip |
Current prices are shown on the homepage and at checkout. You pay by card; there is no account and no subscription, and the pass simply expires at the end of its window.
Captions mode (same language)
If you pick the same language for what is spoken and what you read, Kalamo gives you clean live captions of the speech with no translation. This is great for hearing support, or to read along in a noisy room.
Languages
Pick from the world’s most-used languages, or just type any language name. This works for both the spoken language and the one you read. Your choice is remembered for next time, so the next session is one tap.
Your transcript
As the talk goes on, Kalamo keeps a running transcript. It lives only on your device, and you can download it at any time to keep the notes from a lecture or meeting.
Restore your pass
Passes follow your device. If you paid on one phone and opened Kalamo on another (for example you paid in an in-app browser and reopened in Safari), tap Restore my pass on the translation screen and enter the email you paid with. Kalamo sends a one-tap link that brings your active pass back on the device you open it on.
Privacy
- Never used to train AI. Your words are not used to train AI models.
- Not stored. Kalamo does not keep your conversation; the transcript stays on your device.
- Only to translate. Your audio is processed only to produce your translation, then it is gone.
FAQ
Do I need to install an app?
No. Kalamo runs in your phone’s browser. Open the page, allow the microphone, and press Start. There is nothing to download and no account to create.
Is it really free to try?
Yes. Every device gets a short free trial with no card and no sign-up. When the trial ends you can buy a pass to keep going.
How does a pass work?
A pass is timed access that starts the moment you pay and runs continuously for its window: a 3-hour pass, a day pass, or a week pass. Use as much or as little of it as you like inside that window.
I paid but opened it on another phone and lost access.
On the translation screen tap “Restore my pass”, enter the email you paid with, and we send a one-tap link that brings your active pass back on whatever device you open it on.
Which languages are supported?
Practically all of them. Pick from the most-used languages or type any language name, both for what is spoken and what you read. Your choice is remembered for next time.
Is my conversation private?
Your words are never used to train AI models, and your conversation is not stored by Kalamo. The transcript lives only on your device, yours to download. Audio is processed only to produce your translation.
